Two Musicians, Original Songs and the Road Ahead

16 October 2026

There's something rather special about taking a song you've written, playing it in front of an audience and discovering that people actually want to listen.

That's really what Dobbo & Garfield is all about.

We're two experienced musicians who enjoy making music together, writing our own songs and taking them out into the world. Our music has its roots in folk, but we're not particularly interested in being confined by labels. A good song is a good song, wherever its influences happen to come from.

It's all about the songs

Every song starts somewhere. Sometimes it's an idea, sometimes a conversation, sometimes something we've noticed or remembered. Occasionally, a song seems to arrive almost fully formed. More often, it takes a fair amount of tinkering before we're happy with it.

And even then, songs have a habit of changing once you start playing them in front of people.

That's one of the joys of performing live. You discover which moments connect with an audience, which lines raise a smile and which songs make people stop what they're doing and listen.

Taking the music out and about

We enjoy playing in all sorts of places, from intimate pubs and folk clubs to festivals and community events.

There's something appealing about the smaller venues in particular. You get to meet people, have a conversation between songs and occasionally find yourself performing for someone who only popped in for a pint.

Those unexpected encounters can be some of the most rewarding.

We're also looking ahead to more performances and new opportunities in 2027, taking our music to places we've not yet visited and hopefully meeting plenty of interesting people along the way.

A little bit of what comes next

We're continuing to develop our repertoire, work on our original material and explore opportunities to share the songs with a wider audience.

We'll be using this blog to share news of performances, stories from our musical travels, thoughts about songwriting and the occasional observation from life as two musicians out and about.

Nothing too grand. Just a little window into what we're doing.

And if you happen to see Dobbo & Garfield advertised somewhere near you, do come along and say hello.

We'd be delighted to see you.
